Is it worth switching Cablevision for Netflix instead?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

I live in Bronx, NY and have cablevision. We have the Basic/Family/Silver package for the TV, regular optimum voice, regular optimum online. We pay a total of 0 a month. I’m thinking of getting the Netflix cablebox instead where you can watch whatever you want from your TV for month or whatever it is. Problem is that from a mathematical/financial standpoint, I personally don’t feel its too big of a difference.

My Current Monthly Bill (rounded off amounts):
Optimum Voice =
Optimum Online =
iO Silver Package =
Cable Box =
Tax =

So let’s say I was to downgrade from Silver package to family cable for . My monthly bill would be 6. Now combine netflix and thats like 4, only a difference. So I’m wondering if its really worth going through all that trouble of buying the Netflix cablebox and all that. I mean its not too big of a difference even though the pros of it are extremely good (watching what you want).

The only way I can see this working is if I downgrade even lower to Broadcast Basic cable for (I think it is). But that would be getting rid of some channels that my family like such as the music channels, TNT, AMC, etc. Any suggestions?
kne9999,

I didn’t know Netflix has actual channels?? Hmmm, what other channels do they have? I just tried googling the lineup but can’t find it.

Cable Bill – Justify paying $225 a month in CABLE BILL????

Cable Bill –

I can’t justify it but apparently my parents can. They have 5 DVR boxes, 2 of those are HD DVR and then they got home phone and internet included. They have HBO and Showtime also.

Cable Bill

My question is can anyone here justify paying so much for a cable bill now days? They are not rich and they just like the convenience of it all. They have a son and daughter at home both in 20’s, they are to lazy to go watch it on one tv for DVR recordings, I keep telling them nobody in their right mind would pay that much for cable. Their bill has increased by this month.

Would any of you pay this insane amount for cable tv when the internet TV has everything and over broadcast antenna HD is much better quality? Hell basic cable is a good deal vs this.

Cable Bill – 3000 channels online tv website, is it worth investing in vs my expensive cable bill?

Cable Bill –

So where I live (Wisconsin, obvious by the name huh? lol) we have Charter. Now charter is ok, but the price we pay for our cable is some of the highest in the country and I get over 150 channels but nothing good.
I am paying around 0 for standard-basic cable w/ HD, DVR and a few premium channels. Believe it or not, it’s on a "cheap" bundle. After a little research I came across this website a friend of mine recommended. It’s part of clickbank, but I don’t really care.

Anyone familiar with this program, is it worth it? A few friends I know have it and swear by it, but I would like some outside opinions.

P.S. I don’t want to use free sites or limewire etc. My friend has already been warned by the government so I know it’s possible to get caught.

Cable Bill – I'm looking to get rid of my cable bill altogether as I only watch three or four channels and pay for hundreds?

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Cable Bill –

I know about the services that work well through xbox and plan on using those on the tv in my living room that has an xbox. However, I have a tv on a mount in my kitchen that I like to watch the news on Fox or CNN but don’t see the point of paying a month for that "luxury". If anyone knows of any products I can buy that will get me access to basic cable channels and cable news, I’d appreciate any feedback. I’m not building an antenna out of a coffee can by the way. I have wi-fi and obviously will be keeping that but the cable bill is starting to annoy me. It just doesn’t make sense anymore. Thanks guys!
my mistake, Yahoos…..I live on the top floor of a three story apartment building. Satellites are out.

Will my Cable bill go down if I buy a TiVo? I know I have to …?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

…Keep my cable service, but I am being charged for that service and I think for the rental of that particular box. I want to curtail my cable bill to basic cable but I still want to be able to record certain shows that only come on after my bedtime.

Tivo is going to cost me about a month in subscription fees. Has anyone out there done this and, how much do you save?
